On Friday, January 27, a variety of professionals in the commercial real estate industry gathered at Cahaba Grand Conference Center in Birmingham for the 12th Annual Alabama Commercial Real Estate Conference and Expo.

Straight Talk with John Lauriello

We made a statement and a commitment to downtown Birmingham by spending more than $40,000 on a fancy new sign. It says we’re here, we want to stay and this is where we’re located.

Bill McDavid and I, and some of the other old hats, knew downtown worked for us for two reasons:

1. First, we like downtown!

Even among all these crazy colors, the Southpace purple still stands out.

When most people think of commercial real estate companies, the color purple isn’t usually the first image that comes to mind. In fact, it seems that other firms typically choose more traditional colors such as navy blue or red when they began their branding process.

Estoppel…SNDA? Are you speaking a foreign language?

At Southpace we are smart enough to “know what we don’t know,” and the subject of our most recent installment of the Southpace Learning Series fit squarely in that category.

We are not attorneys and we don’t give legal advice.  Still, we need to understand the role of Estoppels and SNDA documents in our business.  The two terms are sometimes lumped together (especially by real estate brokers) when maybe the only thing they share in common is the need for an attorney’s involvement.
