Decorate to delight your properties and customers

Enhancing properties with holiday decorations

By Melissa Achuff, Lease Administrator and Property Manager

Putting up holiday decorations on commercial properties is almost like an advertisement that screams “Stop! Look at us and come in to do some business or get your holiday shopping done!” We think this is a very good thing for the shopping center, business complex or building and all of our tenants who do business there.

As property managers, putting up decorations around the holidays allows us a great opportunity to show our continued investment in our properties and to show our tenants that we care about them and their business.

Plus, who doesn’t love a little holiday cheer this time of year? It helps to lighten everybody’s mood, including business owners, employees, clients and customers during a time that can be very stressful.

It’s especially important with our retail centers because the decorations give them such a festive and welcoming atmosphere. This was our first year putting up lights at Trussville Marketplace, and as Lights of Christmas, the company that installs them for us, was putting the decorations up, shoppers actually stopped to comment and compliment the rooftop lights, wreaths and lights in the trees. They were very impressed and excited, and it helped get them in the holiday spirit. We also love putting lights on shopping center or business entrance signs because they really draw the eye and make people want to come in and shop ‘til they drop.

We hope some of our properties make it on your list of spots to check out this year for holiday lights viewing! Be sure to check out Trussville Marketplace, Country Club Park in Crestline Village and the Clark Building in downtown Birmingham.
