Yes Means “Yes” at RECon this Year

By Anne Michaels, SCLS, Southpace Broker

“Which convention are you here for? Recon, ICSC, or the real estate convention?”

Cabbies seemed to think there were three different conventions at the Las Vegas Convention Center this week. But luckily we all know why we were there.

Traffic was up visibly at RECon this year, and the mood was also very upbeat. I saw zero people wandering around with resumes and even sat next to a head hunter on the plane on my way into Vegas!

On all fronts things seem to be looking up. The retailers I represent in Alabama and Mississippi are looking to expand and/or relocate existing stores. Landlords and landowners seemed happy and there are lots of people looking for acquisitions.

The general consensus is that this year a “yes” is a “yes” and a “maybe” is a “maybe.” Whereas in years past a “yes” was actually a “maybe” and a “maybe” really meant “no.”

The RBN sponsors and clients thoroughly enjoyed the 13th Hendon Rocks party Tuesday night at The Joint. The music was phenomenal with talent from 38 Special, Loverboy and Collective Soul.  We even have all Southpace brokers present and accounted for and happy to be home! “Welcome to Birmingham” never sounded so sweet.
